Isaiah 66:1-2 These are the words of the Lord: The heavens are My throne and the earth is My footstool. All this is My own making and belongs to Me. Those who revere My word are oppressed and afflicted.
Isaiah 66:3-4 People have adopted loathsome practices, so I shall bring to them that which they fear. No one listened to Me and they chose what displeased Me.
Isaiah 66:5 Hear the word of the Lord, you that revere His word: Your kinsmen hate you because you follow My ways. They say: “Let the Lord show His glory. We do not believe in God”. 2Peter 3:3-4 But they will be put to shame. Amos 9:10
Isaiah 66:6 The noise and distress you hear is the Lord, dealing retribution to His foes.
Isaiah 66:7-9 Zion has been born a son, before any labour pains. Who has heard of such a thing? Can a nation be born in a single day? Shall I bring to the point of birth and not deliver? I, the Lord, will deliver her children.
Isaiah 66:10-11 Rejoice with Jerusalem, all you who love her, for you will be comforted and shall delight in her abundance. Obadiah 19-21
Isaiah 66:12-14 These are the words of the Lord; I shall make prosperity flow over her, like a river and the wealth of the nations will come to her. I will comfort and uphold you. My people will be glad and will flourish like the grass in springtime. The Lord will make His power known among His servants and His indignation felt among His enemies. My comments:
V1-2 God is the maker and owner of all things. Those people who love Him and follow His ways are oppressed and afflicted. As is the situation in many parts of the world today.
V 3-6 The enemies of the Lord will be judged and punished. His righteous people will rejoice at the sight. Psalm 58:10-11
V 7-9 “Can a nation be born in a single day?” This passage has been quoted extensively about the current Jewish State of Israel. It cannot apply to them, as it took at least 50 years for Israel to come to fruition, with great expense and difficulties.
To say that the present Jewish State was formed in one day, the day it was declared, is a pretentious statement. But the prophecies, yet to be fulfilled, about how His people – righteous Israel, will return to the Land, confirms that these verses belong to them. Jer 30:8,
Isaiah 29:5-6...suddenly in an instant, your enemies will be destroyed.
Isaiah 30:26.....on that Day, I will save My people.
Deuteronomy 30:1-14 Moses tells the Israelites, that when they turn back to Y’hovah and obey His commands and Laws. THEN, He will bring ALL of them back to their Land. They will be more prosperous that originally. Y’hovah will rejoice over them and do them good. Bruce McKerras March 2011

Gog from Magog
What are Gog and Magog?
Historically, Magog was a grandson of Noah. Genesis 10:2. The descendants of Magog settled to the north of Israel, in Asia. They are described as skilled warriors by Ezekiel
Gog, from Magog will be the leader of a great army from Northern regions, that will attack Israel in the latter days. Ezekiel 38 & 39, Revelation 20:7-8. While these two instances both mention Gog, a close study of Scripture shows that they do not refer to the same people and events. The first attack, described in Ezekiel 38 & 39, cannot occur during the Millennium, and is quite different from the attack by the Anti Christ at the time of the Return of Jesus. [Armageddon] Therefore, it must happen before then. The strongest evidence for when Gog attacks, is when Israel is at peace and have laid down their defenses. Eze 38:8 & 11. The Jewish State of Israel is currently threatened with war on all sides, but after the next event in the Middle East, as described in Psalm 83 and many other prophecies, then when His people, righteous Israel, settle into the Land – the Lord promises their peace and security. According to Ezekiel and in Joel 2:20, Gog will be destroyed on the mountains of Israel. The slaughter will be so great, it will take seven months to bury the dead. Eze 39:11-12.
Gog and Magog are mentioned again at the end of the Millennium. This use of their names is to show that these armies demonstrate the same rebellion and antagonism against God, as those in Ezekiel. It is the same as calling someone a name to portray another character similar to their actions. This final, last ditch attack on the Lord and His people, by Satan, results his being thrown into the lake of fire and his army from around the world, being instantly cremated.
An interesting aspect of the attack and destruction of Gog and his army against New Israel is the burning of the weapons for fuel, enough for 7 years. Rifle stocks and many other items, such as mortar bases are made of lignostone – a compressed wood/plastic composite.
This is lighter than steel and cheaper than aluminium. It burns better than coal.
Also this 7 year period, gives us the clue that Gog’s attack will happen at least at the commencement of the 70th “week” of Daniel, but because of the Tribulation, etc, of that time, it seems logical that it will be some years before that.

Fulfilment of the promise
Zechariah 9:14-17 The Lord will appear over them [Israel and Judah] He will protect them and they will prevail against their enemies. On that day, their God will save them, for they are His precious flock.
Joel 3:1-2 When that time comes, on that Day, when I reverse the fortunes of My people – I shall judge the nations, for they have scattered Israel, My own people and shared out My Land.
Isaiah 30:26-28 On the Day the Lord heals His people, the sun will shine with seven times its normal brightness and the moon will be as bright as the sun. Then the Lord will sieve the nations for destruction.
Isaiah 31:4-5 The Lord will come to Mount Zion, like a hovering bird, He will shield and protect Jerusalem, sparing and rescuing her.
Isaiah 25:9 On that day the people will say: See, this is our God, we have waited for Him and He will deliver us. Let us rejoice and exult in His deliverance.
Ezekiel 28:24-25 No longer will the Israelites suffer the scorn of their neighbours. The Lord says: When I gather the Israelites from the peoples amongst whom they are dispersed, I shall show My Holiness in them for all the nations to see. They will live on their own soil, that I had given to My servant, Jacob.
Jeremiah 33:6-8 Now I shall bring healing and care for Judah and Israel, they will see lasting peace and security. I shall cleanse them of all their sins that they committed in rebellion against Me.

Not one pebble lost
Amos 8:11-14 Y’hovah says: The time is coming when there will be a famine on the Land, not of hunger, but for hearing the Word of God. People will search for the truth, but will not find it. All who swear by false gods will fall, to rise no more.
Amos 9:1-4 I saw the Lord standing by the altar – He said: break down the buildings onto the heads of the people and any who are left, I shall put to the sword. Wherever they hide, I will find them and destroy them.
Amos 9:5-6 At the Touch of the Lord, the earth heaves, all who live there mourn. He is the One who created the heavens and the earth.
Amos 9:7-8 Are not you Israelites like the Cushites to Me? I brought you up from Egypt. My eyes are on this sinful nation and I will judge them.
Amos 9:9-10 Yet, I will not completely destroy Jacob’s posterity. I shall give the command to sieve Israel among the nations, without one pebble falling to the ground. All the sinners among My people will die.
Amos 9:11-12 On that Day, I shall restore David’s fallen house and rebuild it as it was long ago, so that Israel may possess what is left of Edom and all those nations who were once named as Mine.
Amos 9:13-15 A time is coming when the Land will prosper and be fruitful. I shall bring back My exiled people, they will restore their towns and vineyards. They will enjoy the produce of the Land. Once more, I shall plant My people in their own soil, never again to be removed from the Land that I have given them. REB [abridged]
My contention that all Israel will regather and settle into the Land of New Israel before the Return of Jesus, is reinforced by this passage from the prophet Amos. The sequence of events is clear – firstly a dearth of good Bible teaching. Then, in Amos 9:1-8, describes the Day of the Lords vengeance, when disaster will fall onto all these peoples attacking the State of Israel. The Jews too, will be judged. Jer 12:14-17.
But the descendants of Jacob, that is all 12 tribes of Israel are still known to God. He will gather and judge them. Ezekiel 20:34-36, Isa 1:26, Deut 32:36.
V 11-12 Then, “On that day, I will restore David’s fallen house”. This will fulfil God’s promise to David, that His royal line will continue forever. “so that Israel may possess what is left of Edom”, also the lands of other nations, cleared out by the M.E. war.
This enables the Lord’s righteous people to be a ‘light to the nations’ and preach the gospel of the coming Kingdom. It also fulfils God’s promises to the Patriarchs, that their descendants will live in peace and prosperity in ALL the Land promised to them.
Y’hovah will bestow on His people all those amazing blessings as promised throughout the Bible. There will be times of difficulty, as when the Anti Christ stops the offerings in the New Temple, but those who hold firm to faith in God, will see Jesus Return in His Glory and will reign with Him.

Good personism
If you live a life, doing good things and keep on the right side of the law, then will you go to heaven? In the humanist or atheistic worldview, good personism is defined this way; if we all live the good life that we are capable of,then we create a heaven on earth.
Whether we strive for nirvana, moksha or utopia, we can attain them only if we do or give something first. Thus, whether religious or secular, each of these worldviews has as their primary requirements, set conditions and tasks to be achieved. They all demand time, effort and sometimes, pain, in the attempt to get there.
From a natural point of view, nature rewards only the strong.
The ultimate authorities in such worldviews do not give freely, they demand resources for only hoped for favours.
All worldviews and beliefs have a reflective character about them. We reflect the attributes of what we worship. Just as children imitate their parents, the adherents of any particular religion or lifestyle will emulate the words and deeds of their chosen deities or heroes. Therefore if someone follows a demanding deity, then their actions and character will reflect a ‘take’ mentality.
Our present world situation of conflict, based on competition for resources, is the logical result of the purely naturalistic and atheistic view of the world. In that worldview, sheer chance is how we exist and fairness is random. Also random, is who has resources, and who does not; who has the power to take them and who is powerless.
Survival of the fittest is the end game, which really equates to ‘might makes right’.
When it comes to putting an end to the self-centredness that gives birth to conflict, there is no deity better than the only actual deity, the God of the Bible. Indeed, God in Christ is the very embodiment of selflessness, the opposite of what we see around us.
As He is described in the Bible, God is the One who communes with us through His Holy Spirit. He has revealed Himself to be a Being of pure love.
If it is true that we imitate those we look up to, then when we commit ourselves to reflecting God’s self giving nature, we must end that selfishness that brings conflict.
It has been argued that with socialism and communism, humanity has already tried this kind of social selflessness and failed. They do not succeed because they are fatally flawed in their fundamental assumptions. They both say that humanity, unaided by spiritual regeneration, can be trusted to overcome its selfishness and create its own utopia. It is also fatal for the State to enforce selflessness. Secular humanism, too suffers from the flawed assumption that humanity is capable of natural selflessness.
All this proves that we are incapable of true selflessness apart from a Spirit dominated, regenerated nature that reflects the selflessness, not of creation, but of the Creator.

The core of the conflict
Since Egypt and Jordan have made peace treaties with Israel, why can’t the Palestinians
Simply, because the very existence of Israel is not compatible with their own existence.
The international community can’t figure out why the peace process, two state solution won’t work. The answer is, the dispute is not so much over territory, but ideology. For Arabs, Palestinians and most Muslims, this struggle is part of a Permanent Revolution against the infidel.
Without understanding this concept, it is impossible to know why all efforts to impose a Palestinian state alongside Israel are doomed to failure. The primary goal of Palestinian nationalism is to wipe out the State of Israel, not to recognize or permit its existence.
Any form of Palestinian statehood that accepts Israeli sovereignty in what they believe is Muslim lands, stolen by the Jews, is, by their definition, heretical. This is clear in both the Hamas and PLO charters.
These organizations do not constitute a national identity, but are simply political entities developed as part of a terrorist agenda. Their struggle is not to achieve statehood alongside Israel, but to replace Israel.
Palestinian identity means the struggle to “liberate Palestine from the Zionists” and it has become an international cause that has bound Muslims together, as part of Jihad, with much broader implications – a Permanent Global Islamic Revolution.
Two state proposals, therefore, with Palestinian statehood as a territorial goal, means the end to the struggle to eradicate Israel. This explains why no Palestinian leader will agree to Western and Zionist interests and why making compromises is an anathema. It means the denial of the “Nakba” of 1948 and admitting that everything that they have fought for was in vain.
Statehood means that the millions of refugees, in camps and around the world will no longer be considered “refugees”. UNRWA will be out of business.
Statehood means the armed struggle is over. It means that the concept of Palestinianism created by the PLO, accepted by much of the international community and the media, to “liberate Palestine” is finished.
Statehood involves taking responsibility, ending incitement and violence, corruption and lawlessness and accepting Israel means an end the Revolution, a national betrayal and an Islamic heresy.
In this context, for most Palestinians and their supporters, the ‘Peace Process” is just a road map to defeat.
So called ‘peace treaties’ and ‘road maps’ are worthless. It is futile to appeal to the good will of Israel’s enemies. They have no moral ethics when it comes to dialogues or diplomacy. They consider such efforts, just as a sign of weakness.
With regard to Bible prophecy, the majority of church leaders are like ostriches with their heads in the sand, while their congregations remain in a state of woeful ignorance of end times. This state of affairs will soon come to an earth shattering end when this next Middle East war breaks out. The world will never be the same again.

Any form of Palestinian statehood that accepts Israeli sovereignty in what they believe is Muslim lands, stolen by the Jews, is, by their definition, heretical. This is clear in both the Hamas and PLO charters.
These organizations do not constitute a national identity, but are simply political entities developed as part of a terrorist agenda. Their struggle is not to achieve statehood alongside Israel, but to replace Israel.
Palestinian identity means the struggle to “liberate Palestine from the Zionists” and it has become an international cause that has bound Muslims together, as part of Jihad, with much broader implications – a Permanent Global Islamic Revolution.
Two state proposals, therefore, with Palestinian statehood as a territorial goal, means the end to the struggle to eradicate Israel. This explains why no Palestinian leader will agree to Western and Zionist interests and why making compromises is an anathema. It means the denial of the “Nakba” of 1948 and admitting that everything that they have fought for was in vain.
Statehood means that the millions of refugees, in camps and around the world will no longer be considered “refugees”. UNRWA will be out of business.
Statehood means the armed struggle is over. It means that the concept of Palestinianism created by the PLO, accepted by much of the international community and the media, to “liberate Palestine” is finished.
Statehood involves taking responsibility, ending incitement and violence, corruption and lawlessness and accepting Israel means an end the Revolution, a national betrayal and an Islamic heresy.
In this context, for most Palestinians and their supporters, the ‘Peace Process” is just a road map to defeat.
So called ‘peace treaties’ and ‘road maps’ are worthless. It is futile to appeal to the good will of Israel’s enemies. They have no moral ethics when it comes to dialogues or diplomacy. They consider such efforts, just as a sign of weakness.
With regard to Bible prophecy, the majority of church leaders are like ostriches with their heads in the sand, while their congregations remain in a state of woeful ignorance of end times. This state of affairs will soon come to an earth shattering end when this next Middle East war breaks out. The world will never be the same again.

Latter days
I believe that the very existence of the State of Israel today, surely places us in the Latter Days. Therefore, correct understanding of the end times should be the aim of every Christian believer. We need to not be taken unawares of coming earth shattering events. Those Christians who subscribe to a Rapture, may find themselves unprepared to survive severe Tribulation. The Lord has called us to be His co-workers, so we must know what lies before us, to work intelligently toward the furtherance of His Kingdom.
Remember that Jesus rebuked the people of His day, for not being able or willing to discern the signs of the prophetic times in which they lived.
Since 1948, we have seen an amazing restoration of the Jewish people into a portion of the Land. In Joel 3:1 When the time comes, I will reverse the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem.
God says; in that time period, certain things will occur. The first sign will be an attack on the State of Israel by her evil neighbours, with the tacit support of many other nations. This war will conclude with a massive victory for Israel. Jeremiah 12:14
Joel 3:2-3 I shall gather the nations into the valley of Jehoshaphat [the Lord Judges] I will judge them on behalf of My people, whom they scattered among the nations.
[This event is not Armageddon, as in Rev 19:17-21 and Zech 14:3-4,they are at His Return]
Joel 3:4-8 What are you to Me, Israel’s neighbours? Do you want vengeance? I will make your deeds recoil onto your own heads. You have harmed Judah and stolen their treasures. I will rouse them and bring them home, your own people will be enslaved.
Joel 3:9-17 Proclaim war among the nations! Prepare your weapons, let the weakest say they are strong. The nations round about will hear the call and gather for judgement. The harvest is ripe- wield the knife, tread the grapes. Rev 14:17-20 The Day of the Lords vengeance is at hand, in the place of Decision. But the Lord is a refuge for His people, a defense for Israel. By this you will know that I am the Lord your God. Jerusalem will be holy.
Joel 3:18-21 When that day comes, there will be food and water in plenty in the Land. Egypt and Edom will become desolate wastes because of the violence they did to Judah, but the Land of Israel will be inhabited forever. I shall avenge their blood and the Lord will dwell in Zion.
It should be clear to anyone that a secular State of Israel is not God’s highest ambition for His people. Currently the Jews only occupy a small portion of Greater Israel and are beset by problems, water shortages, religious schisms and threats of destruction, etc Many, many prophecies predict a remarkable future greatness for ALL the tribes of Israel. Most Bible scholars relegate these predictions to the Millennium, as they cannot see any earlier fulfilment. They have often been influenced by the traditional “Rapture/Great Tribulation” view and a replacement theology, that replaces Israel with the Church. But when thought is given to what so clearly must happen before Jesus Returns, then wonderful is the prospect of a righteous nation, living in peace and security in the Promised Land – after the whole area is cleared and cleansed by this great Day of the Lord. Ezekiel 37:15-28
For the universal Church of Jesus Christ and all peoples, it is time to realize that we are now at the edge of cataclysmic events. The obvious determination and preparedness of Israel’s enemies is so great, that there may be no defence adequate to cope with their attack. It will require divine intervention to avoid annihilation. If God does not defend and deliver Israel from her sworn enemies, then His self acclaimed title of ‘the Holy One of Israel’ and ‘the Lord of heavens armies’ will be meaningless. Jer 30:4-11, Deut 32:41-43
The assurances given concerning the protection of Israel, if not kept, would render His Word unreliable, and His character flawed.
Thank God, His promises never fail. He will come to the aid of His people. Isa 44:21-23
