Go, My people, withdraw for a little while.........

Isaiah 26:20-21.....until the Lords wrath has passed. The Lord is coming to punish the wicked and apostate peoples of the earth.
Isaiah 27:1 On that Day, the Lord will punish with His powerful sword Leviathan, that twisting serpent.
Isaiah 27:2-5 On that day, sing of the fruitful vineyard – I the Lord am it’s keeper. I tend it constantly, but I get no fruit from it. If only it were briars and thorns, then I would not hesitate to destroy it. But if they [Israel] come to Me for refuge, I will let them make peace with Me.
Isaiah 27:6 In time to come, Jacobs posterity will prosper and Israel will flourish. They will fill the whole earth with fruit.

Isaiah27:7-9 Has the Lord struck Israel, as He has killed their enemies? The atonement for Jacob’s guilt is made by their sojourn in exile. All the idol worshipping altars and sacred poles are destroyed.
Isaiah 27:10 The fortified settlement is abandoned. Animals graze there and the trees are dead, good only for firewood.
Isaiah 27:11 For this is a people without understanding, so their Maker will not show them favour.

Isaiah 27:12 In that day, the Lord will thresh the grain from the Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt and you, Israelites will be gathered one by one. On that Day, a great trumpet will sound and those who were exiled in Assyria and Egypt will come to worship the Lord in Jerusalem.

A voice will say; this is the way, follow it

Isaiah 30:1-14 The Lord says; woe to Israel, a race of rebels who refuse His Laws. They ask for preachers to ‘give us smooth words and illusions’.
Isaiah 30:15 These are the words of the Lord; In calm detachment lies your safety, your strength in quiet trust.
Isaiah 30:16-17 But you would have none of it, therefore you will be put to flight.
Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord is waiting to show you His favour and compassion, for He is a God of justice. Happy are all who wait for Him! [Luke 12:37]
Isaiah 30:19-22 People of Zion, weep no more. The Lord will answer you when you call for help. He gives you adversity and affliction now, but your teachers will no longer be hidden from you, you will see them with your own eyes. If you stray from the right path, you will hear a voice behind you saying- ‘this is the Way, follow it’. You will loath your images and will treat your idols [sorcery, false religions, materialism, etc] like filth. [Hosea 14:8 & Ezekiel 11:18]
Isaiah 30:23-24 The Lord will give rain and the Land will produce rich crops. Your livestock will prosper. [Isaiah 41:17-19 & Ezekiel 34:14-16]

Isaiah 30:25-26 On the Day of slaughter, when fortresses fall, streams of water will flow from every hill. The moon will shine like the sun and sunlight will be seven times brighter on the Day the Lord heals the wounds of His people. [Isa 63:4]
Isaiah 30:27-28 See the Lord Himself comes from afar, with anger and wrath, in dense clouds of smoke. His breath is a rushing torrent, He shakes the nations in a sieve of destruction. [Ezekiel 30:2-3 & Habakkuk 3:12]

Isaiah 30:29 But for you there will be songs and gladness of heart as you march to music, on the way to the Mountain of the Lord. [Zech. 10:10-12, Psalm 68:7-12]
Isaiah 30:30-33 Then the Lord will make His voice heard in majesty and reveal His arm descending in fierce anger, with devouring flames, thunder and hail. [Heb 10:27]
For at His voice, Assyria’s strength fails, His punishing Rod strikes them down. A fire pit is prepared by Jerusalem, ready for the Lord to set it ablaze with His breath, like a stream of burning sulphur.

My comments ; Verse 10 is appropriate for our days, as false religions, prosperity theology, etc. are promulgated everywhere.
Verse 19-24 Are for the period after His people, all Israel, are resettled in the Land. They will have God given leaders and teachers to guide them until Jesus Returns.
Verse 25-28 & 30-33 The Lords Day of vengeance, the fire judgement on His enemies – the Day His people are healed and redeemed.
Verse 29 Then they gather into the Promised Land.

Scripture understood literally

Psalm 97:1 Y’hovah reigns, let all the earth rejoice. Righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne.

Psalm 97:2-5 Cloud and thick mist enfolds Him. Fire goes ahead and consumes His enemies all around. His lightning flashes light up all the world and the earth quakes. Mountains melt like wax at His approach, Y’hovah, the Maker of all things.
Psalm 97:6-7 The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all the peoples look to His glory. Those who worship idols will be shamed – worship Y’hovah, all you gods!
Psalm 97:8-9 Zion hears and rejoices, all the towns of Judah are glad at your judgements. For You, are the Most High over all the earth.
Psalm 97:10-12 Y’hovah loves those who hate evil and He keeps His loyal servants safe. He rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light comes upon His people and joy comes to the upright in heart. Rejoice in your God, all you that are righteous and praise His Holy Name.
My comments;
Psalm 97 is the story in a ‘nutshell’ of what Y’hovah plans to do in the immediate future of our world.
Verse 1 – reminds us of His Kingship and His just rule over His creation.
Verse 2-5 – Describes literally and accurately the next prophesied event, the Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath. Y’hovah will use a seemingly natural disaster, a massive CME to destroy His enemies, those who are living in the Holy Land and those who conspire to attack the State of Israel. Psalm 83, Micah 4:11-12
Verse 6-7 – Tells how all the false religions and the idols of our modern age, will be put to shame.
Verse 8-9 All of that area, from the Sea, [Mediterranean] to the Great river, [Euphrates – Numbers 34:1-12] will be cleared and cleansed. Isaiah 66:15-16
Verse 10-12 Y’hovah will protect and rescue those ‘who hate evil’ and those ‘who call on His Name’. Joel 2:32 His spirit will be sent upon them. Ezekiel 36:25-28
They will live in all of that Land promised to the Patriarchs, in peace and prosperity. Isaiah 32:15-20, Ezekiel 34:13-16
Jesus is not present, as He will be later for His Millennial reign. This is clear from Ezekiel 34:30 Thus you will know that I, Y’hovah, your God, am with you and that you are My people.

Isaiah 6:11-13 I asked the Lord: How long? [Before the restoration of His people] He answered; Until the Land and cities are ruined and deserted, the houses unoccupied. The Lord will drive the population far away and the country will be one vast desolation. Even though a tenth of the people remain, they too, will be destroyed until only a stump remains, but that will become a holy seed.
The current population of the Holy Land are decimated by the Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath and of the remainder, only a remnant will survive, to ‘become a holy seed’ of the House of Judah. Their kinsmen; the House of Israel will then join them. Ezekiel 37:20-28 Ref; REB. Some verses abridged. Bruce McKerras October 2011

A prayer for His people

Before the Lord’s day of vengeance and wrath;
Isaiah 64:1-2 Why, Lord, do you not tear asunder the heavens and come down, so that the mountains might shake and fires blaze, so as to make water boil? Then Your Name would be known to your adversaries and the nations would tremble before You. [This is our present situation, asking the Lord to sort out the world’s mess. Note how the CME the Lord will use on that Day, will cause earthquakes, fires and will make any open area of water boil.]

After the Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath;
Isaiah 64:3 You surprised us with awesome things! The mountains shook when You appeared. [Most people will be surprised and shocked by this terrifying Day of fire judgement and earthquakes. This will be the unexpected event, referred to as ‘coming like a thief’. ]

Isaiah 64:4-7 Never has ear heard, nor eye seen any other god who acts for those who wait for Him. Y’hovah welcomes those who rejoice to do right and are mindful of His Laws. But, because we continued to sin, He was angry. How then, can we be saved? All of us are unclean, like filthy rags. Our iniquities carry us away like the wind. No one calls to You or strives to hold fast to You, for You have hidden Yourself from us and left us in the grip of our sins. Isaiah 8:17, Ezekiel 39:21-24
Isaiah 64:8-9 Yet, Lord, You are our Father, we are the clay, You are the Potter. All of us are Your handiwork. Do not be angry beyond measure, Lord, do not remember iniquity forever. Look upon us, we pray, for we are Your peoplec

Isaiah 64:10-11 Your holy cities are ruined, all of Zion is a desolation. Jerusalem, Your sanctuary, has been burned by fire, all that we treasured has been destroyed. Ezekiel 33:27-29, Zephaniah 1:4-6 [This is the result of the great and terrible Day of the Lord’s vengeance and wrath, well before and quite different from the Day of the glorious Return of Jesus. The burning and destruction of Jerusalem, particularly, has happened twice before, but is prophesied to happen three times, as in Ezekiel 21:1-17.]

Isaiah 64:12 After all this, will You keep silent and punish us beyond measure?

2 Chronicles 6:36-39 Should Your people sin against You, (and who is free from sin?) and should You in Your anger, give them over to enemies, who exile them to lands far and near, then if they have a change of heart and turn to You, saying: We have sinned and then, in the land of their exile, they pray wholeheartedly to their God, looking toward the Land which You gave to their forefathers, then from heaven – hear their supplications and maintain their cause. Forgive Your people their sins against You, let Your priests be clothed with salvation and Your loyal servants rejoice in prosperity.

Listen, you nations.

Isaiah 34:1 Approach, you nations and listen – attend you peoples. Let the earth listen, all the world and all that is in it.
Isaiah 34:2-3 For the Lords anger is against all the nations and His wrath upon all their armies. He has given them over to slaughter and destruction. [Joel 2:1-11]
Their slain will be flung out and their blood will cover the ground. Their dead bodies will stink. Jeremiah 25:33
Isaiah 34:4-5 All the host of heaven will fade away. The sky will roll up as a scroll.
For My sword appears in heaven and descends in judgement on Edom – on a people whom I have doomed for destruction. Jeremiah 49:7-22

Isaiah 34:6-7 The Lord has a sword covered in blood – the blood of lambs and goats.
For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in Edom.
Their land will drink deep of their blood and be enriched by their fat.
Isaiah 34:8 For the Lord has a Day of vengeance, a time for retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause.
Isaiah 34:9-17 Edom’s rivers will be turned into pitch and it’s soil into brimstone. Smoke from it will rise forever, no one will ever again pass through it. The owl and raven will make it their home. All wild birds and beasts will have their place in that land.

My comments;
From verse 4, we get the clue that this terrible Day of the Lords judgement is also the sixth seal – Rev 6:12-17 .....There was a violent earthquake; the sun turned black and the
moon red as blood, stars fell to the earth, the sky vanished like a scroll being rolled up.
The kings of the earth, the rich and powerful, and all men hid themselves in caves and under rocks: they called out for the earth to hide them from the One who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great Day of their vengeance has come and who can stand? Isaiah 2:12-21 & Isaiah 63:1-6... judgement on Edom and Bozrah.
Edom= the ungodly nations.”A people doomed for destruction”. Bozrah= the sheepfold, must be cleansed to be the place of safety, to which the elect will be taken, during the Tribulation. A place “at the end of the earth” a place as far as possible from Israel.

Continuing on, in Rev 7:1-8 After that......Do not damage anything further until we have set the seal of God upon His servants.
These are the 144,000 from all the 12 tribes of Israel. Isaiah 66:19. They go out in pairs to spread the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. So, righteous Israel must regather into the Land after it is cleansed, in order for this to happen.
Then in Rev 7:9-17 [says again] After that....... describing the Millennial glories and blessings.
Isaiah 30:26 describes the sun being 7 times brighter, this passage in Isa 34 and Rev 6 describe the results of this event- fires and ‘smoke rising forever’.
This description of “the sky rolled up like a scroll “ may be what would happen if a coronal mass ejection was fired from the sun, by a giant sunspot. It would cause terrible loss of life and destruction worldwide. Malachi 4:1
