SUFFERING AND SORROW WILL FLEE AWAY

This old world staggers along, from disaster to crisis, wars, earthquakes, storms, droughts, you name it. But God’s plans will soon come to fruition. The shocking and earth shattering nuclear war in the Middle East will set the scene for a sequence of events, culminating in the Lord Jesus’ glorious Return. This war will constitute the Lord’s judgement on Judah [the current inhabitants of Israel] and all the surrounding nations. I have made a list of 19 verses that speak of this terrible Day.

The nations:
Ezekiel 36:7 Therefore, says the Lord, the nations round about Israel will endure rebuke. [the coming war, resulting in the judgement of ‘the evil neighbours’. See Jeremiah 12:14]
The Jews:
Jeremiah 7:20 I will pour out My anger on Judah, on man and beast, trees and crops – it will be unquenched. [The Land, virtually wiped bare]

So, it may be another year or two before this:
Ezekiel 36:8 But you, mountains of Israel, put forth your branches and yield fruit for My people, Israel, for their homecoming is near. [My people, gathered, judged and settled in all of the Promised Land. Ezekiel 20:34-35]
Ezekiel 16:52 It is you, Judah, that must bear the humiliation – for your sins have pleaded your sisters cause, your conduct is so much more abominable than theirs, that they appear innocent in comparison. Now you must bear your shame.
Ezekiel 16:53 I shall restore the fortunes of your sisters, Sodom and Samaria, [the 10 northern tribes of Israel] and yours [the House of Judah] too at the same time.
Ezekiel 16:55 When your sisters become what they were of old, then your daughters will be restored likewise.
Ezekiel 16:63 You [Judah] will remember your conduct and be so ashamed and humiliated that you will never open your mouth again, once I have pardoned you.

Isaiah 40:1-2 Comfort My people, their term of bondage served – penalty paid.
Isaiah 40:3 Clear a road through the desert for the Lord, level the ground.

Isaiah 43:19 I am about to do something new. Through the wilderness I will make a way.

Micah 2:12-13 I shall assemble you, the whole House of Israel [12 tribes] herded like sheep.
Micah 4:6 I shall gather and restore the lost as a remnant, turned into a mighty nation.

Hosea 2:14-23 But now, I shall woo My people and lead them into the wilderness. I shall speak words of encouragement to them. I shall betroth you to Myself forever. Israel will be My new sowing in the Land. I say- you are My people and they will say- you are our God.

Isaiah 32:14 Houses are forsaken and streets deserted – the Land a waste to the delight of the donkeys and flocks.
Isaiah 32:15 Until the Spirit from on High is poured upon us, and then the wilderness will become garden land.
Isaiah 32:16-17 Justice and righteousness will prevail throughout the Land.
Isaiah 32:18 My people will live peacefully, in secure homes.
Isaiah 32:19-20 Despite damage to vegetation and buildings, you will be blessed with ample water, crops and grazing land.
Isaiah 35:1 Let the wilderness be glad, the desert rejoice and flower.
Isaiah 35:2 The Land will again show the glory of Lebanon, Carmel and Sharon, these will see the glory of the Lord.
Isaiah 35:3-4 Strengthen yourselves, say to those with fearful hearts- be strong. For your God comes to save you, with His vengeance and retribution. [Against your enemies]
Isaiah 35:5-7 Then the blind will see, the deaf hear, all disabilities cured. Water will flow in the desert, where jackals once roamed.
Isaiah 35:8 A highway will appear – called the way of Holiness. No unclean person will pass on it. Wicked fools cannot trespass on it.
Isaiah 35:9 No dangerous beast will come there. But, by that way the Lords redeemed will return.
Isaiah 35:10 The Lords people, set free will come back and enter the Land with shouts of joy and triumph. Gladness and joy will come upon them –
All suffering and sorrow will flee away.

MICAH - Then there will be peace

Micah 4:11 Now many nations are massed against you, they say; let her suffer outrage,
we will gloat over Zion.
Micah 4:12 They do not know the Lords purpose, for He has gathered them like sheaves
to the threshing floor.
Micah 4:13 Start your threshing, people of Zion, for I shall give you supernatural
strength and you will crush many peoples. Their wealth is to be devoted to the Lord.
[ As in Psalm 83, the Islamic nations attack Israel. The I.D.F. will destroy them]

Micah 5:1 Now, withdraw behind your walls, you people of a walled city. The siege is
pressed against you.
Israel’s ruler is struck on the cheek with a rod.
[Go into your bomb shelters. Your leader will be injured]

Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem, from you will come Israel’s King. His origin is from the
ancient past. [ Jesus, born in Bethlehem]

Micah 5:3 Therefore, Israel will be abandoned until she who is pregnant gives birth.
Then, those of the people who survive will rejoin their brethren.
[Israel and Judah scattered among the nations. After the Mideast war, they will
rejoin and settle in the Land. The “people who survive” are those who do not take
the mark of the beast and manage to survive the Tribulation]

Micah 5:4 He will rise up and lead them in the strength and majesty of God. His people
will enjoy security, for His power will reach the ends of the earth.
THEN THERE WILL BE PEACE.

Bible Prophecy

Just when do we really understand what God is telling us in Bible prophecy?
Remember that the Jewish leaders in Jesus’ time failed to understand the clear ( in
hindsight) , prophecies about His coming. Even the date could have been calculated.

Paul tells us in 1Thessalonians 5:4 But you, friends, are not in the dark, the Day of the
Lord will not come upon you like a thief.
In Daniel –The wise (those with knowledge and understanding) will know what will happen
in the time of the end.
Revelation 1:3 Blessed are those who take to heart the words written in this book.

Points we can be sure of- 1. Jesus will return and reign for 1000 years.
2. We have clear information of the circumstances of His return.
3. Before that event, it seems that a powerful leader will rule the world, for at least 7
years.
4. There will be terrible destruction over all the earth for 3.5 years, just prior to
Christ’s return.

Do any prophecies say how this so called Anti Christ will come to power?
What about the Middle East situation? How is it possible to resolve it?

If the Jews, the current inhabitants of the Land of Israel, are His chosen people, why
are 42% atheist, 25% believe in a God, but do not acknowledge Him, 20% practice
Judasim (see Isaiah 29:13) and the rest are a hodgepotch of religions. Only a tiny
minority are Christian.
How do you think God feels about them?

Isaiah 46:10 and Amos 3:7 both state that the Lord reveals His plans to His servants.
It follows, therefore, that provided we are truly are His servants, we should be able to search the scriptures and obtain a true picture of Gods plan.
Unfortunately, because of the way Scripture is written, as Isaiah says- a little here, a little there, it just seems too hard for most to sort it out. Some prophecies are written in allegory, that is using a type or example to help explain it. Careful discernment is needed to separate allegory from what should be read literally.
Many thousands of godly people have spent entire lifetimes trying to unravel prophecy, but we are told that it is only when the end approaches, that we will finally understand.

What are the signs of the end?
Daniel says – Many will run to and fro, trying to gain knowledge. Some people will purify themselves, but the wicked will continue in their wickedness.
Jesus says- False Messiahs will arise and fool many. There will be wars, famines and earthquakes around the world. Lawlessness will spread and the faith of many will grow cold. But, whoever endures to the end will be saved.
Because God wants His people to know their future, we cannot just ignore or gloss over what He has given us in His word.

The book of Zephaniah

THE BOOK OF ZEPHANIAH - AN END TIMES STORY

Zephaniah, a prophet during the reign of King Josiah, circa 620BC.

Zeph 1:2-3 Humans and all living things will be destroyed from the Land. The wicked will be brought to their knees.
Zeph 1:4-6 Judah will be judged and those who have neither sought the Lord or enquired of Him will be wiped out.
Zeph 1:7 Be silent before the Lord, for the day of vengeance is near. The Lord has prepared a sacrifice and set apart those He has invited.
Zeph 1:8-11 I shall punish all you leaders and officers on the Day of the Lord’s sacrifice.
Cry and wail, you merchants and dealers, all who fill the Lord’s House with violence and fraud, you will be destroyed.
Zeph 1:12-13 Those complacent people who say the Lord will do nothing. They will build and plant, but all will be destroyed.
Zeph 1:14-18 The Great Day of the Lords wrath is near, a Day of destruction and battle cries. Great distress will come on the people who have sinned against the Lord; their blood will pour out on the ground. Their wealth will not save them, for He will make a sudden and terrible end to all who live in the Land.
Zeph 2:1-2 Humble yourselves, you shameful nation, before the Day arrives, before the burning anger of the Lord comes upon you.
Zeph 2:3 Seek the Lord, all you who live humbly, obeying His laws. It may be that you will be sheltered on the Day of the Lord’s anger.
Zeph 2:4-7 Gaza will be deserted, woe to all you Philistines, I shall crush you – your land will belong to the survivors of Judah.
Zeph 2:8-9 I have heard the insults of the Ammonites, those who made threats against My people. Moab and Ammon will become a wasteland for evermore and My people will dispossess them.
Zeph 2:10-11 Because, they [the Ammonites / Jordanians] have insulted My people and encroached on their Land, I will bring terror upon them. Then the nations of the coasts and islands will worship the Lord.
Zeph 2:12 You Cushites [Cush- a son of Ham, the African peoples] will be slain by the Sword of the Lord.
Zeph 2: 13-15 Assyria destroyed, will become a waste land, all who pass by will scoff at her fate.
Zeph 3:1-4 Woe betide that tyrant city, filthy and foul. [Jerusalem] She heeded no warning – refused to trust the Lord. Her leaders were as wolves and lions. Her prophets, treacherous men and her Rabbis do violence to the Law.
Zeph 3:5 Yet every day, the Lord dispenses justice, but the wrongdoer knows no shame.
Zeph 3:6 I have wiped out this arrogant people, their cities are abandoned.
Zeph 3:7 I said surely they will fear Me and accept correction, that they would escape destruction, but no, they eagerly continued in their evil ways.
Zeph 3:8 Therefore, says the Lord, wait for the Day when I accuse you. I will gather nations in order to pour My wrath upon them. The whole earth will know the fire of My jealousy.

[ I consider that from this point the prophecies refer to the Millennial time ]

Zeph 3:9 Then I shall restore pure lips to all peoples. So that everyone may call on The Name of the Lord and serve Him with one accord.
Zeph 3:10 My worshippers in distant places will bring their offering to Me.
Zeph 3:11 On that day, Jerusalem, you will not be shamed because I will have rid you of your proud and arrogant citizens.
Zeph 3:12-13 Only a remnant of lowly and humble people will survive. They will be righteous and nothing will make them afraid.
Zeph 3:14-18 Shout for joy, Israel, your punishment is over, your enemies defeated.
The Lord is now in your midst, He will show His love for you.
Zeph 3:19 When that time comes, I will deal with your oppressors. I shall gather you and bring you all home.
Zeph 3:20 You will have honour and praise among all the peoples when I restore your fortunes before your eyes. It is the Lord who speaks.

Note. I use the Revised English Bible, which I regard as the most accurate and easy to read translation.
I have abridged most verses, but the words used are as written in Scripture.
Words in brackets [ ] are my explanation.

The return of the 12 tribes of Israel

Here is a list of Bible verses that indicate Gods people, the House of Israel and the House of Judah, will return and resettle in the Promised Land, soon after it is cleansed
by the next Mideast war. This will be at least 7 years before Jesus Christ’s glorious return, as the Anti Christ will sign a peace treaty with His people, Israel at the commencement of the 70th week of Daniel.

Ezekiel 36 This whole chapter speaks of Israel’s return and redemption.
Ezekiel 36:23 I will reveal My Holiness through you. [The Lord has not returned yet,
His hand in Israel’s gathering, etc. will be apparent]
Ezekiel 36:36 The nations left around you will know that it was I, the Lord who has
done this.
Ezekiel 36:37 Once again I shall let the Israelites pray to Me for help.

Hosea 14:7 Israel will again live in My shadow. [not in His presence, as yet]

Psalm 85:1 You have shown favour to Your Land and restored the fortunes of all Israel.
Psalm 85:11 Faithfulness comes from the earth and justice looks down from heaven.
[His people are faithful as God gives justice from heaven]

Jeremiah 50:4 In those days and at that time – Israel and Judah will come together
and in tears, go in search of their God.
Jeremiah 50:5 Come let us make a covenant with the Lord.
[ The Lord has yet to appear to them]

Hosea 1:11 The people of Israel and Judah will be reunited and will chose for
themselves one governor. [A leader chosen democratically, until Jesus
comes to take over the Kingdom]

Jeremiah 3:15 I will give you leaders after My own heart. They will lead you with
knowledge and understanding.

Jeremiah 29:13 When you seek Me, you will find Me- if you search wholeheartedly.
Jeremiah 29:14 I shall let you find Me, then I shall gather you from the nations and
restore you to the place from which you went into exile.

These last verses from Jeremiah, tells us – if we wish to be included in Gods people –
that it is up to us to pray and search His word for our own redemption.
